Meet Wyatt
Why are you learning a language?
I've always wanted to learn new languages. I think it's one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Are there any techniques you use to keep yourself on track that you'd like to share with other language learners?
Find someone who speaks the language you're learning and take screenshots of anything you don't understand on Busuu (or any other language learning program, but Busuu is the best I've seen so far), then show it to them and have them explain it. Busuu has been one of the most helpful tools in learning Spanish, second only to traveling to Mexico. Another helpful technique I recently started applying is learning songs in Spanish (or whatever language you're learning). Learning songs has helped my vocabulary and understanding of pop culture/slang, etc.
What do you enjoy most about learning a language on Busuu?
I like how it forced me to get out of my comfort zone by eventually being ALL in Spanish (instead of having English explanations and then Spanish questions). I've also noticed that Busuu does a much better job explaining concepts than any other language learning software I've used.
How would you describe Busuu in one sentence?
The most thorough and comprehensible language learning software I've used. I usually tell people it's simply the BEST language learning software/app/program I've used, and I've had experience with several, including Rosetta Stone. It's cheap, you get to learn multiple languages without paying extra, you get official certificates that would actually look good on a resume, and you'll spend a lot less time searching for explanations on google since Busuu explains concepts so well.
What has studying on Busuu helped you to do in the real world?
It was the best preparation tool I had for my first trip to Mexico a few months ago. I know it was because of Busuu that I was able to do the amount of communicating that I did while I was there. Since using Busuu, I've been able to look back on different forms of media that I didn't understand very well in Spanish with a much higher comprehension level. I know that if I finish using Busuu and continue practicing that I'll reach fluency.
Have you had any good conversations on Busuu or met someone from Busuu in real life?
The Busuu community has been really helpful correcting my exercises. I've never had a full on conversation with any of them, but I always look forward to their input.
